NetSuite Customization & Integration Services
Make NetSuite fit the way your business works.
NetSuite can support a lot of business requirements out-of-the-box. But no ERP system can account for every process or requirement. We help you determine the best way to fill those gaps, whether that means configuring NetSuite, connecting another application or developing something custom.

What growing companies have to say…
When should you customize NetSuite?
Just because NetSuite can be customized doesn't mean it always should be.
Every customization or integration adds some level of cost and complexity to your NetSuite environment. That's why we start by understanding what you're trying to accomplish, then look for the simplest sustainable way to get there. The goal isn't to avoid customization. It's to use it intentionally and choose the approach that solves the business problem without adding unnecessary complexity.
Configure before adding complexity
NetSuite gives you a lot of flexibility through standard features, fields, forms, roles, workflows and reporting. If we can meet your requirements using those tools, we'll start there before introducing additional complexity.
Integrate when another solution does the job well
Sometimes the functionality you need already exists outside of core NetSuite. We typically look to SuiteApps designed for NetSuite first, before recommending integrations with other solutions.
Customize when there's a clear business reason
Customization makes sense when an important requirement can't be addressed through configuration or integration. That could mean a small script, workflow or custom application.
What We Do
How does ProjectLine approach NetSuite customization?
The right customization should solve a business problem without creating unnecessary complexity elsewhere in your NetSuite system. That means thinking beyond whether something can be built and considering how it will work, be maintained and impact your system over the long-term.
Keep it as simple as possible
More complex doesn't mean better. We look for the simplest solution that meets the requirement without introducing functionality you don't need.
Consider the whole system
A change in one area of NetSuite can affect processes, data, integrations and functionality elsewhere. We consider those connections before designing the solution.
Don't customize everything at once
Not every enhancement needs to be part of your initial implementation. We'll prioritize what you need to run the business at go-live, then add new capabilities over time when they make sense.
Build with the future in mind
We consider how customizations will be documented, maintained and supported as NetSuite and your business evolve.
What does NetSuite customization look like in the real world?
Customization doesn't always mean a large development project. We've used NetSuite's development tools to solve everything from repetitive manual tasks to highly specialized business processes. Here are a few examples.
Automate a manual intercompany process
A pharmaceutical company needed to move inventory between subsidiaries to support how it sold products based on licensing agreements. We added a workflow in NetSuite that creates, ships, receives and closes the required transfer orders—replacing a process that was previously done manually.
Build a prescription management interface
A veterinary pharmaceutical company had prescription requirements that weren't easily met with standard NetSuite functionality or third-party solutions. We built a custom interface to manage issuing, tracking and renewing prescriptions, while creating and updating standard NetSuite transactions behind the scenes.
Create a purpose-built time capture interface
A service company needed a better way for employees to capture time. We developed an external process-aligned interface for time entry and vacation management that integrates the information back into NetSuite.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does NetSuite customization or integration cost?
It depends on what you're trying to accomplish and the complexity of the solution. A focused workflow or script may require relatively little development, while a complex integration or custom application can become a significant investment.
Before recommending custom development, we'll look at the business value of the requirement over both the short and long-term, and whether there's a simpler way to achieve the same outcome.
Will customizations cause problems with future NetSuite updates?
They don't have to, but maintenance needs to be considered when they're designed. We consider how customizations, scripts and integrations will interact with changes to your NetSuite environment over time. Staying close to standard functionality where possible and designing custom solutions carefully helps reduce unnecessary maintenance and upgrade risk.
What are the pros and cons of customizing NetSuite?
Customization can help NetSuite support processes that aren't easily met by standard functionality, reduce manual work and preserve capabilities that are important to your business.
The tradeoff is additional cost and complexity that may not equate to long-term value. Custom functionality may require more documentation, testing and ongoing maintenance, which is why we recommend it only when there's a clear business reason.
Should we customize NetSuite or use a SuiteApp?
If a SuiteApp already solves the requirement well, building the same functionality from scratch may add unnecessary cost, maintenance and time to value. Custom development makes more sense when your requirement is unique, important to the way your business operates or isn't adequately addressed by NetSuite or the available SuiteApps.
Can ProjectLine integrate NetSuite with other business applications?
Yes. Depending on the application and your requirements, we can use an existing connector or develop a custom integration to connect NetSuite with other systems your business relies on.
Have a NetSuite requirement that isn’t met out-of-the-box?
You don't need to know whether the answer is configuration, integration or custom development. Tell us what you're trying to accomplish, and we'll help you determine the simplest sustainable way to get there.
