Enhancing divisional tracking and service operations with NetSuite

HMFT initially implemented NetSuite through another provider but faced significant challenges in unifying financial and operational data across their growing organization. After acquiring a new division, they sought a reliable partner to optimize their NetSuite system. ProjectLine improved divisional financial tracking, service reporting and cost management, leading to measurable productivity gains.

How HMFT gained full clarity and cost control with NetSuite

Before partnering with ProjectLine, HMFT couldn’t see their full financial performance, making it tough to properly manage costs, create accurate forecasts or measure divisional success. ProjectLine tailored NetSuite to deliver the clarity they needed. With improved visibility across divisions, better cost tracking and streamlined service workflows, HMFT gained the tools needed for their growing business.

Improved financial visibility across divisions

HMFT lacked the ability to break down financial performance by business unit. ProjectLine configured NetSuite to provide divisional reporting, allowing HMFT to measure profitability across its valves, pumps, spray and finishing divisions. This visibility has streamlined financial decision-making and improved forecasting.

Enhanced cost management

As HMFT is expanding and bringing new acquisitions into the fold, having consistent, reliable cost tracking is critical. ProjectLine implemented enhancements to HMFT’s cost tracking. ProjectLine implemented several enhancements in NetSuite to improve financial oversight and support a smoother onboarding process for newly acquired companies. These included:

  • Electronic File Transfer (EFT) for vendor payments.
  • Profit and Loss reporting by division while ensuring COGS are driven by product, not customer.
  • Cost tracking enhancements for service operations, enabling comparisons of actual and budgeted amounts.
  • Budget tracking for paint booth construction projects, improving visibility into materials, labor and expenses.

Optimized service operations

HMFT’s service team struggled with tracking job profitability and workflow efficiency. ProjectLine implemented a structured process in NetSuite, breaking jobs into key stages—assessment, quoting, PO approvals and parts management. This step-by-step approach enabled better tracking and resource allocation.

Where we once had very little tracking in service, we now have full visibility. The ability to monitor utilization rates and compare actual vs. quoted hours has helped us pinpoint inefficiencies and improve performance.
