What is ProjectLine's Role as an ERP Partner?

Darrell McClarty March 17, 2016

A few months ago I was given an opportunity to be interviewed at a local Chamber of Commerce event. The topic was pretty wide open – “We're just going to ask some questions about who you are, what you do and how you got there.” How hard can that be?

It was a fun interview (watch it here), led by two local business personalities that knew nothing about me or ProjectLine. What struck me was a comment I received after the interview aired. From my parents. “Now we understand what you do.”

Hmm...ProjectLine has been in business for fifteen years and my family is only now beginning to understand. Well shame on me!

So what did I say that I hadn't said to them before?

We sell software that is designed to run a small or mid-size business. Our solutions are published by two of the largest software companies in the world, SAP and NetSuite. We use their world-class software to help growing companies across Canada and the US become more efficient and more profitable. Huh? Ok...but how? What happens? What does it do? How do you do it?

Imagine you’re renovating your kitchen. You need to give it a facelift, but you also need it to be more usable – it just doesn’t work for your growing family like it once did. So what do you do? Get out your tools? Head to the hardware store? Some might.

But more likely you’ll sit down with someone who does this for a living, have them take some measurements and make recommendations for ways to improve things when you build the new kitchen. And they will give you options. If they tell you that there’s only one possible way to set it up, then you’ll likely look elsewhere for advice. You need someone that will listen to your needs (and wants) and help you figure out the best approach that fits your budget.

When it comes to helping you implement ERP as a business management system for your organization, we’re the experts that will help you to visualize it, design it for your needs and wants, and work with you to fit your budget. We’ll even help you finance it. We’ll help you source the various “materials” and we have experts that handle the installation for you. I suspect that most of you won’t cut your own granite countertops, build your cabinets, install them, seal the seams, do the electrical and plumbing, and so on. You hire experts to do that. When it comes to your system, our consultants and technical team do essentially the same thing – we configure the software to specifications that work for your business and ensure that everything “fits” and is “hooked up” properly.

I could go on, but hopefully you get the idea – I think the analogy works. You likely wouldn't fully renovate your kitchen on your own; you’ll at least rely on experts to some degree. And you likely don’t want to implement your new ERP system on your own either. Like a kitchen reno, installing and configuring a new software system to run your business requires know-how – and we’re your local ERP experts.
